    You are certainly entitled to defend yourself from the serious ethics charges filed by the House ethics committee. But you should do that as a private citizen, not as a Member of Congress.

    We are so grateful to you. We know who our friends are.

    For years, you have been on our side. And it hasn’t been easy. While we’ve tried to kill rent control and hike rents, throwing out those low- and modest-income residents who just mess up up our campaign to make obscene profits, you’ve had to dodge and hide from the people.

    If I was Lloyd Blankfein and you told me that I could pocket hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation, play a key role in a scam that cost millions of people their jobs, send the economy into one of the worst economic tailspins in a half century, escape any personal jail time for that scam, not have to admit any wrongdoing and, then, pay a measly $550 million fine out of the corporate treasury, I'd say, "where can I sign up?" And that's the deal Goldman is cutting.
